Bride votes before going to wedding in Elbasan: Democracy before the ceremony

A special moment was recorded this Sunday at a polling station in Elbasan, where among the citizens exercising their right to vote, a bride in a white dress appeared. Determined not to let her right as a citizen go unfulfilled, she showed up at the polling station to cast her vote before the wedding ceremony began.

Her gesture was welcomed by attendees and commissioners, while the footage was widely shared on social media as a symbol of civic commitment and the right to decide for the future.

Today, on May 11, 2025, Albanian citizens are voting to elect 140 members of the new legislature. There are about 3.7 million citizens with the right to vote, while for the first time in the history of parliamentary elections in Albania, the diaspora vote is also included, with over 245 thousand emigrants registered to vote.

There are 11 political entities and coalitions in the race, while voting began at 07:00 and will end at 19:00.
