Assistant Secretary for the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs Dr. Karen Donfried will be touring the Western Balkans from 25 April to 29 April.

Donfried will visit Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Kosovo, Northern Macedonia and Serbia, while the agenda of the DASH official has been revealed.

The first stop will be in Kosovo on April 25, where the key issues to be addressed are: Afghan housing, reforms for democratic consolidation and integration into European and Euro-Atlantic institutions, and consideration of prospects for progress in the US-facilitated dialogue. from the EU to Serbia.

On April 26, he will visit Serbia to discuss reforms for its European integration, improve regional stability and prosperity, and reiterate the need for Serbia and Kosovo to engage in EU-US-supported dialogue.

On April 27, in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), Dr. Donfried will encourage officials to resume institutional participation at all levels of government to advance BiH functionality and reforms to obtain EU candidate status.

On April 28, Donfried will meet with the leaders of the Government of Northern Macedonia to signal our strong support for Northern Macedonia's EU membership negotiations and to thank them for their continued assistance to Ukraine.

On April 28, the DASH official will arrive in Albania. Her visit comes as part of the 100th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the United States and Albania. Donfried will thank Albania for our partnership in the UN Security Council and for its commitment to Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity in the face of Russian aggression, and will also underline its support for Albania's EU membership and regional economic integration. as well as stress the need to fully implement justice reform and fight corruption.

Donfried's tour of the Western Balkans will close on April 29, with Montenegro emphasizing the need to accelerate work on Montenegro's Euro-Atlantic path and EU accession, strengthen NATO membership and uphold the values ​​of common, including tackling corruption.
