The statement of the nurse Aurona Pelaj, who was filmed physically abusing an elderly woman in the "Orenda" care center in Peja, is clarified.

Gazeta Sinjali has provided details from the testimony of the main suspect, Aurora Pelajt, after the arrest, who expressed remorse, arguing that she attacked the victim in self-defense. She considers the publication of the video to be intentional, because she left her job at this center yesterday.

The sources of the newspaper have announced that Pelaj has stated before the police investigators that on the day of the incident, she went to help her colleagues who were dealing with the elderly woman, as according to her she was aggressive.

She has justified the violence that she has exercised against her by saying that "she attacked me first", as she said that the victim went through a nervous breakdown that day and caused "trouble" in the premises of the center.  

 "When I started working, she was already a resident of the house and the doctor confirmed that she has mental disorders. On the day when the case happened, she was very aggressive and from time to time experienced nervous crises, and we informed the doctor about this. That day, we had the task of changing their diapers after the elderly woman (the victim) had performed her physiological need and soiled the space with her hands. I heard a noise in the bathroom and went to look. My colleagues had problems there and I wanted to help you. She (the elderly victim) attacked me and caused injuries to my hand, she attacked me with a kick. I did not use violence or great force except to stop her attacking me. She also attacked another resident that day.", she declared, reports Sinjali.

 "At school we were taught that people who pose a risk to the staff and have mental problems should be dominant towards them. I am aware that the action was excessive and under the influence, but she attacked me first and my actions were warning and not with great force. My colleagues have tried to get her (the old woman) under control. They tried hard to change it, it was powerful and some people want to bring it under control", she added.

The images that were shared today on social networks have shocked the country. There it can be seen how one of the employees attacks the elderly woman, slapping and kicking her.
