The OSCE-ODIHR officially launched its monitoring mission for the May 11 parliamentary elections today.

The head of the mission, Lamberto Zanier, was asked about the role of SPAK in the monitoring process. He said that they will look at SPAK's initiative, but the OSCE will put the findings in the report.

"I will look at this initiative of SPAK and I have no comment at the moment. We will put the findings in the report, we are not here to do other tasks. All our findings will be put in the report," he said. We are very committed to cooperating with the authorities, but the findings of irregularities will be shared through our reports ," he said.

Journalist: Control of the money with which political parties are financed? Do you have a specific mechanism?

Zanier: The ODIHR methodology includes this. Of course we will look at this as the situation is. We will pay attention to it. This is important when we talk about a healthy democracy.

Journalist: 2021 vote-buying phenomenon, the government has given bonuses to pensioners, does this affect fair competition?

Zannier: My job is not to appeal to political forces. In recent reports we have seen these phenomena. Through reports we want to curb these. We will look at the issues of misuse of public funds or vote buying to discourage these phenomena.

Journalist: What can you tell us about the diaspora voting process?

Zannier: Voting from abroad does not have an international standard. Each country sets its own specifics. We will see through two teams, we will follow at the airport when the votes arrive, how they are managed and how they will be counted and then reported to the CEC. This is to ensure transparency. Yes, we will be careful about this aspect as well. We are committed to following this process.
