One of the Albanian icons of film and theater, artist Margarita Xhepa, passed away today at the age of 93.

The actress was born on April 2, 1934, in the city of Lushnja, where she took her first steps towards her career. During her career, the great actress Margarita Xhepa has created over 150 roles in theater.

In addition to her success with the numerous works of Albanian playwrights, Margarita Xhepa has also achieved success in world dramaturgy roles such as Ophelia in "Hamlet", the second daughter in "King Lear", the nanny in "Romeo and Juliet", Queen Margaret in "Richard III", etc.

In 1997, she starred in the Greek film "Goodbye" (directed by J. Koras, K. Vupuras). The film won the Grand Prize at the International Mediterranean Film Festival in Thessaloniki, while Margarita Xhepa won the Honorary Prize.

In 2007, she was awarded the "Career Award" for her role as Nadezhda in Chekhov's monodrama "Swan Song".

In addition to roles in theater, he has also performed 32 roles in cinema, working with most Albanian directors. With K. Dhamon, he filmed “The First Years” and “Traces”, with I. Muçaj and K. Mitro, “The Last Winter”, “The Bloody Land”, “A Boy and a Girl” and “The Passionate One”, with Viktor Gjika, “General Gramofoni”, with E. Musliu, “The Circle of Memory” and “The Years of Waiting” (E. Musliu), with Kujtim Çashku, “The Warm Hand”, with Dhimitër Anagnosti, “The Stones of My House”, with P. Milkan, “Spring Didn’t Come Alone”, with S. Kumbaro, “Concert in 1936”, with Gj. Xhuvanian, “The Last Sunday” and “Dear Enemy”.

In May 2004, she returned to the stage of the National Theater, to shine in the drama "Streha e të harruarve", another success in her 50-year career. In addition to theater, Xhepa has appeared on the movie screen with a diverse gallery of 31 roles.

Xhepa has also been awarded the titles "People's Artist", "Honor of the Nation", and the High Order "Gjergj Kastrioti Skanderbeg".
