Diarrhea, vomiting and dehydration, experts explain the effects of salmonella on

In Albania, 2.6 tons of chicken meat contaminated with salmonella have been identified, which were consumed by citizens, causing public health concerns. Health experts are calling for increased care when cooking meat products, to avoid the risk of infections from this bacteria.

Salmonella can cause severe symptoms such as diarrhea, vomiting, high fever, and abdominal pain. In more severe cases, complications such as bloody stools and dehydration can occur. Nutritionist Albana Daka emphasizes that symptoms often appear within 6-72 hours after consuming contaminated foods. She emphasizes that if symptoms do not go away or worsen, it is important to seek medical help, especially in cases of severe dehydration or high fever.

Health experts are also calling for increased caution, especially for vulnerable groups such as children, the elderly and individuals with weakened immune systems. To prevent salmonella poisoning, it is important to cook meat to temperatures high enough to kill the bacteria.

Food control and safety remain important issues, while authorities are monitoring the situation carefully.
