Rama as a curse to his servants!

Rama as a curse to his servants!

By Andi Bushati

Edi Rama is leaving no stone unturned to disappoint the useful idiots who want to support him by preaching that Albania still lives in a democratic system. Since May 11, when he secured a fourth term, he has been ignoring even the superficial maintenance of the facade of a country where the rule of law is respected and powers are separated.

In a few weeks, there has been no shortage of examples. They have appeared with blatant disregard for the independence of municipalities, which on paper are presumed to be independent of the central government. Without getting into the essence of the debate about who is right, whether the prime minister is being hypocritical in relation to the positions he has held previously, the fact that the citizens of Vlora, Tirana or Durrës have chosen someone else to run the affairs of their municipalities, but it is the head of government who dismisses and appoints local staff, decides on priorities, gives orders and puts municipalities under the control of deputies or ministers, is a flagrant sign of the destruction of the principle of decentralization, in the name of the will of a single person.

The same disregard for the citizens' vote, or rather, for the Socialists' vote, was also seen after the recount process. Although the clown in the dress, Zeqineja, turned out not to please the militants enough to take her to parliament, by direct order from the boss, the one who was ranked before her was forced to resign. What value does the citizens' vote have here, constitutional respect for open lists, or competition within the party? All of these are undone in front of the spiraling model that the girl from Roskovec has embraced, and that Edi Rama seeks to promote at all costs.

The same disregard for the rule of law and the separation of powers was also observed towards the prosecutor of Shkodra, Elsa Gjeli, who, for better or worse, had her own logic for not prosecuting the owner who had built in Theth, and who did not expect lectures from a drawing teacher at this point. The fact that she did not go after the prime minister, not only made her a prey to political attacks, but the minister of justice began the process of disciplinary measures against her.

Surprisingly, the prime minister who made a fuss about prosecutor Gjeli has kept quiet about the prosecutors and judges who are keeping Veliaj in prison. This contradiction alone is enough to prove that the silence about Lali has nothing to do with any principle of maintaining a hygienic distance from judicial decisions, but with the boss's desire to eliminate his former dolphin from the political scene, without getting his hands dirty himself, but using the SPAK mask for this purpose.

It is no coincidence that the worsening of the legal positions of the acting mayor of Tirana is going parallel to the tearing of his political shoulders from the SP. Today Rama is treating Veliaj like a leper among socialists and this is the main reason that a captured system continues to keep him in the cells of Durrës.

So, just a short time after May 11, the prime minister is proving that he has suppressed the autonomy of local government, that he will not even care about the vote expressed through open lists, that he knows how to massacre prosecutors who do not obey him and synchronize with SPAK, which he uses to wash his dirty accounts.

Even the "naive" people who oppose the idea that Albania is not an autocracy have a hard time understanding where such phenomena and distortions can occur in a system that is classified as democratic.

But, apparently, the mission is becoming increasingly impossible for them too. If Rama has demonstrated such symptoms before, after winning his fourth term, along with the disbanding of the opposition, he may have even thrown away his scruples to appear, at least on the surface, as a democrat.
