Government irony: Rama strips Dredha of power, then demands law and order

The forced dismissal that Rama demanded of the directors of the Municipality of Vlora stripped the mayor, Ermal Dredha, of his powers. Rama took over the "helm" of the municipality, demanding the resignation of the directors with pen and paper.

Today, at the meeting held with the mayors in Durrës, Rama harshly criticized Dredha, describing him as a mayor with closed eyes in the face of illegal constructions.

"I will address some key issues that unfortunately characterize today's large cities and cities with a special tourist influx in Albania, where the weakness of local government has come to the fore as a result of a very big change in the entire way the country functions due to the fact that the country no longer supports only its own residents, but also an additional load of tourists that is growing. This brings with it new, complicated challenges and large additional loads for local government, especially in territories where the concentrations of visitors and tourists are greater. One of the things that is noticeable is the internal incentive of business to cross borders in the form of territorial occupations, up to unauthorized construction in territories where attention is less or like in Vlora where the mayor and the structure there have their eyes half open and half closed ," said Rama.

This statement by the Prime Minister comes after the "broom" operation he has undertaken in at least three municipalities in the country so far. Vlora, Durres and Fier have been targeted by Rama for the administration's purge.

The first was Vlora, where 21 directors submitted their resignations imposed by the leader of the Socialists. Dredha himself declared to the media that the resignations were legitimate since they had not fulfilled their duties as municipal officials.
