Germany summons Russian ambassador after expelling journalists

The German government summoned the Russian ambassador on Thursday over the expulsion of two German journalists while accusing Moscow of spreading fake news about the treatment of Russian media in Germany.

Russia said a day ago that it would deport a journalist and a cameraman of the German television channel ARD as a symmetrical response to the German action related to the expulsion of two journalists of the Russian network "Channel One". Berlin denied ordering the deportation of Russian journalists.

"The expulsion of the ARD network journalist team from Russia is unacceptable and the justification is simply wrong and a lie. We condemn this action in the strongest terms and for this reason we have summoned the ambassador", said Annalena Baerbock, Foreign Minister of Germany. The German chief diplomat said that her country has experienced the propaganda battle since the beginning of the war. /VOA
