The Elbasan Prosecutor's Office launched this Wednesday an investigation into the circumstances of the fire, which involved the landfill next to the incinerator last evening.
The fire at the landfill started on Tuesday afternoon and despite ground and air interventions, the flames have not yet been brought under control.
"Regarding the fire that spread to the waste dump in Elbasan, we inform that the specialists for the Investigation of Crimes of the Elbasan Police Commissariat, under the direction of the Prosecutor's Office, are carrying out the necessary investigative actions, in order to determine the cause of the fire, clarify the circumstances and individualize the responsibilities in this case. Meanwhile, the Police services, together with the fire services, are working to neutralize the fire", the Police announced.
