Golem and Qerret without water at the peak of the tourist season

Golem and Qerret without water at the peak of the tourist season

For more than 4 weeks, the residents of Golem, Qerret and surrounding areas have been facing a water shortage. At the height of the summer season, this situation has become a serious concern.

Initially, residents of 'Viena' street complained to Fiks Fare, where 35 families claimed that they have been suffering from a water shortage for 1 month. "We have had problems with drinking water, but this month it never comes at all," the residents say. As a result, they have found a solution by digging wells, but they still have difficulty getting the buckets up the floors.

Most of the residents are of a certain age who are unable to carry buckets of water. The residents told Fiksi that a pit has been dug next to their building where a building will be built and they fill it with water from the pipe discharges there.

For this problem, Fiksi calls the UKD chief dispatcher Eno Tatavashi, who states that they have made verifications on the ground and to his knowledge the residents are supplied with water. He is willing to personally go to the residents, as the pit of the building to be built may have caused this problem for the lack of water supply to the residents. Fiksi also inquired at the Durrës Water Supply and Sewerage Company.

The latter, in its response, explains that the defect is local, caused by works carried out at a construction site that has opened near these two buildings, works which have damaged the old water supply line in this area.

From the verification that was made on the ground, the Durrës Water and Sewerage Company has decided to intervene by building a new water supply line, avoiding the construction site so that residents will no longer have problems. But the problems with the water supply seem not to have been limited to the Golem area.

Numerous complaints have reached Fiks Fare this weekend, including from residents of the tourist area of New Durrës, Golem and Qerret.

Asked about these complaints, the Durrës Water and Sewerage Company wrote that the entire area of Qerret, Golem, Kavaja and part of Durrës is currently supplied only from the Çerma spring, after the water supply from the Manskuria Water Supply Company was interrupted. This summer, investment has begun in the Manskuria reservoir dam, therefore the entire beach area this summer has problems with water supply, since the supply is being met only from the Çerma spring with the capacity it has.

All the water from the Çerma spring is being distributed to these areas according to the schedule set by the UKD. So this summer, residents are only safe from swimming in the sea. Top Channel
