KLA OVL: KLA did not fight for a political blockade, Kosovo is everyone's

The Kosovo Liberation Army War Veterans Organization has reacted today regarding the political impasse in the country, emphasizing that Kosovo is everyone's responsibility and no one has the right to hold it hostage.

The KLA's OVL, through a press release, emphasize that it is unacceptable that, at a time when citizens are facing major economic, social and security challenges, political parties, and in particular the winning party, maintain a rigid and insensitive stance towards the constitutional responsibility for the constitution of the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo and the formation of the country's legitimate institutions.

"In the name of the ideal of the struggle for freedom and state-building, in the name of those who gave everything to see Kosovo free, sovereign and democratic, OVL, SHIL, SHFD of the KLA, the Association of Political Prisoners and the 'Lëvizja' Society express our deep concern regarding the institutional crisis that is deepening as a result of an unnecessary political stalemate.

"It is unacceptable that, at a time when citizens are facing major economic, social and security challenges, political parties, and in particular the winning party, maintain a rigid and insensitive stance towards the constitutional responsibility for the constitution of the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo and the formation of the country's legitimate institutions," the reaction states.

The OVL of the KLA further emphasize that they do not prejudice any candidate for institutional positions, but when the state interest and the functioning of democracy are put at risk due to a lack of compromise and political stubbornness, then they feel obliged to raise their voices publicly.

"We call on all political entities, and in particular the winning party, to show political maturity and state responsibility, by ending the current crisis through a sustainable solution, which respects the spirit and letter of the Constitution, as well as the will of the citizens of the Republic of Kosovo.

"The KLA did not fight for political blockades. It did not fight for narrow interests and for deadlocks that paralyze institutions. We fought for a free, democratic and functional Kosovo, with institutions that serve the citizen, not the logic of power at all costs," the reaction states.

"If the institutional crisis continues and further undermines the democratic order and stability of the country, we, OVL, SHIL, SHFD of the KLA, the Association of Political Prisoners and the 'Lëvizja' Society will feel obliged to take further public, institutional and civic steps to protect the values for which much was sacrificed and to guarantee the functioning of the state in the spirit of the Constitution.

"Kosovo is everyone's responsibility, and no one has the right to hold it hostage," it continues.
