Accused of sexual abuse, producer Diddy awaits court decision

Sean "Diddy" Combs' trial is nearing its end and the jury is expected to deliver a verdict this Monday.

The 55-year-old music producer and businessman is charged with serious crimes that carry a maximum sentence of life imprisonment if convicted.

During the high-profile trial in Manhattan federal court, two of his former partners, singer Cassandra “Cassie” Ventura and a woman known as “Jane,” testified that they were forced to participate in sex acts with paid male escorts that Combs would watch, record and coordinate. The acts, known as “Freak Offs,” were allegedly carried out under emotional and physical duress.

The defense, on the other hand, acknowledged that there were incidents of domestic violence but denied any evidence of coercion. Defense attorney Mark Anifillo argued that the acts were consensual and based on a long-term romantic relationship. “If this were a domestic violence case, we wouldn’t all be here,” he said in his closing argument.

Combs, the founder of Bad Boy Records and an iconic figure in hip-hop, has been held in federal prison in Brooklyn since September 2024. Jury deliberations have no set duration and any verdict requires unanimity.
