Domestic violence remains one of the most widespread forms of violence in Albania.

According to Police statistics, every day around 7 people report violence in family relationships.

In the first half of 2025 alone, 1260 complaints of this nature were registered, turning this phenomenon into a social alarm.

The complaints are followed by protection orders issued by the court for certain periods ranging from one month to one year, but this does not stop the violence.

Behind every number lies a story, a mother, a child, or often even the elderly who are abused by the people who are supposed to offer them love and protection.

Just a day ago, a 39-year-old mother ended up at the police station in Tirana after it turned out that she was raping her minor daughter, while in another case, a 31-year-old man was arrested after he abused his uncle and grandmother, as well as damaging some of their equipment.

According to official data, the majority of victims of violence are women and children, while in many cases violence occurs silently, without being reported, which indicates that the real figure of this phenomenon may be even higher./TCH
