"1 in 48 Albanians in British prisons"/ Rama responds to Nigel Farage: Persisting in error is diabolical!

"1 in 48 Albanians in British prisons"/ Rama responds to Nigel Farage:

Prime Minister Edi Rama responded again to British politician Nigel Farage, following the latter's statements on Albanians in Britain and their percentage in prisons.

In a direct post on X, Rama mocks Farage for "misinterpreting the numbers", reminding him that he lost and that Albanians are not numbers to be used in post-Brexit propaganda.

On the other hand, Rama has attached a photo created by Artificial Intelligence as if he and Farage are on Albanian beaches vacationing together. The Prime Minister once again invites Farage to visit Albania and enjoy our hospitality.

Rama emphasizes that Albanians in Britain are honest professionals, and that cooperation with the British government has brought about a significant reduction in illegal immigration. He challenges Farage to visit Tirana as a “guest of honor”, to see the real facts and Albanian hospitality.

The Prime Minister dismissed as untrue the claim that "1 in 50 Albanians in Britain is in prison", saying that this is a false figure and part of a "post-Brexit illusion".

Rama's post on X:

Dear Mr. Nigel Farage,

My Catholic grandmother, may God have mercy on her, often reminded me of a Latin proverb: “Errare humanum est, sed perseverare diabolicum.” Which translated would be: To err is human, but to persist in error is diabolical.

So, instead of worrying the Home Secretary, who has more than enough responsibilities, perhaps it would be better to let me know when I can receive you in Tirana as an honored guest. Because, dear Nigel, numbers don't seem to be your strong point, so let's make it clear: YOU LOSE.

Your “census” of Albanians in the UK is ridiculous. You claim there are 53,000. In reality, the number is much higher – several times higher. But let’s stick to your source: The Telegraph, which first announced the “one in 50” theory and then admitted it itself:

“The analysis is likely to have underestimated the size of the Albanian population, as it does not include illegal migrants, including over 12,000 who arrived in small boats in 2022. Some estimates suggest that the true Albanian population could be as high as 140,000 – meaning that fewer than one in 100 are in prison.”

As for the prison population, a more valid question would be: how many of them have been convicted of crimes that have nothing to do with your outdated visa and immigration system?

Yes, numbers can sometimes seem boring – but they are also stubborn. And when someone keeps twisting them, the real question is: Why do you persist? Because, to be honest, being mean is something that falls below even your usual level of rhetoric.

Albanians in the UK are not a statistic to be twisted in the name of post-Brexit political theatre. They are students, academics, builders, drivers, entrepreneurs, professionals and partners. And if one in a thousand fails, that does not make the majority a scapegoat for your national confusion.

We have been working closely with the British government to significantly reduce illegal immigration and combat crime. The real figures prove this – and this is called cooperation. But “one in 50 Albanians in British prisons”? This is not a fact, this is called post-Brexit delirium.

I look forward to welcoming you to Albania, as promised, to share together abundant sunshine, warm hospitality, and true facts.
