The Metropolitan of Gjirokastra, His Holiness Dhimitri, has passed away.
The news was announced by the Autocephalous Orthodox Church of Albania. Monsignor Dhimitri passed away after a serious illness.
Monsignor Dhimmitri was a member of the monastic brotherhood of the Gracious Monastery of Saint Catherine in Mount Sinai (Egypt), where he became a monk in 1974.
We recall that the Metropolitan of Gjirokastra, His Holiness Dhimitri, was born in Serres, Greece, in September 1940. He completed his studies at the Faculty of Theology of the "Aristotle" University of Thessaloniki, where he graduated.
