Russian forces strike a building in Odessa, killing two people and wounding nine

Two people have been killed and nine others injured in a Russian overnight attack on a 21-story apartment building in the coastal city of Odessa, in southern Ukraine.

According to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, the explosion caused a massive fire that engulfed the 7th, 8th and 9th floors of the building. “People were trapped in their apartments. Five people were rescued by emergency crews, including a small child,” the official statement said.

The mayor of Odessa confirmed that the victims were a married couple who were in their apartment at the time of the attack.

Meanwhile, local authorities announced that among the injured are two children, aged 3 and 7, who are under the care of doctors. Their condition has not yet been made public.
