A 23-year-old man has been arrested in Vau i Dejës, after being accused of being a member of a criminal group involved in drug trafficking.

According to the police, the Court in L'Aquila, Italy, has ordered the measure of "prison arrest" for drug trafficking against citizen EA. Following the arrest, the 23-year-old is expected to undergo extradition procedures.

"Accused in Italy as a member of a criminal organization for drug trafficking, the 23-year-old was captured in Vau e Dejës.

Following intensive cooperation with Italian partners, coordinated by the ENFAST network, with the objective of bringing to justice citizens declared internationally wanted, the Directorate of the Special Operational Force at the Criminal Police Department, during the operation "Operational 49", located in the village of Barbullush, Vau i Dejës, and arrested with the aim of extradition to Italy, citizen EA, 23 years old.

In 2024, the Court in L'Aquila assigned this citizen the security measure "Arrest in prison", for the criminal offense of "Drug trafficking", committed within the framework of a criminal organization, an offense for which the Italian Criminal Code provides for a maximum sentence of 24 years in prison.

"Cooperation continues to finalize the extradition of the 23-year-old to Italy ," the police announced.
