Alimehmeti accuses KAS after recount: The system should be reformed, analysis

Ilir Alimehmeti, the candidate of the “PD-ASHM” coalition, failed to secure a mandate as an MP in the May 11 elections, despite receiving over 17,000 preferential votes. In his post-election reactions, he raised concerns about discrepancies in the vote count and stressed that many votes were not counted, although he admitted that this does not change the final result.

The reopening of the ballot boxes reduced the number of votes for the Democratic candidate by dozens, as they were deemed invalid. But Alimehmeti accuses the CEC's Complaints and Sanctions Commission of being part of the manipulation of the results, by incorrectly reading the ballots.

" Those who are used to putting their hands in continue to influence the counters. Alimehmeti also points out the need for internal analysis: " The principle should be that in Parliament, representatives should be those with the most votes. But this system does not allow it."

" This is part of the candidate's analysis or even at the district level. But there is always room for better."

Although Alimehmeti does not appear to regret his political journey so far, he seems to have plans for the future: " People without plans cannot function. At the right moment, I will separate them!"
