Special Appeal makes decision for former judge Guxim Zenelaj

The Special Court of Appeal has made a decision regarding the appeal of former judge Guxim Zenelaj, who appealed the decision of the Criminal Court of Kosovo that sentenced him to 6 months in prison for concealing assets, a sentence that was converted to probation.

According to the decision, Guxim Zenelaj must complete the work in the public interest within six months, starting from the day of execution of this decision.

The former judge is ordered to perform the type of work, in the place of its performance and on the relevant days of the week, according to the determinations of the Tirana Local Probation Service Office.

Notice of Appeal of the GJKKO:

The Special Court of Appeal for Corruption and Organized Crime, with a panel composed of judges Igerta Hysi (presiding), Tereza Merkaj (member) and Iliriana Olldashi (member), on 26.06.2025, announced the decision regarding the case registered with no. 38 act, date 06.05.2025 registration, on the appeal filed by the appellant GZ, against decision no. 26, date 17.03.2025 of the Special Court of First Instance for Corruption and Organized Crime, and decided:

1. Enforcing decision no. 26, dated 17.03.2025, of the Special Court of First Instance for Corruption and Organized Crime, with this amendment:

• Pursuant to Article 63 of the Criminal Code, it is ordered:

1- Suspension of the execution of the decision of imprisonment,

2- Replacing the prison sentence with the obligation of the convicted person to perform work in the public interest, for a period of 100 hours.

• Work in the public interest must be carried out by the convicted person within six months, starting from the day of execution of this decision.

• The convicted GZ is obliged to perform the type of work, in the place of its performance and on the relevant days of the week, according to the determinations of the Tirana Local Probation Service Office.

• Convicted prisoner GZ is obliged to maintain contact with the Tirana Local Probation Service Office.

3. The court costs, including those of the appeal trial, shall be borne by the defendant GZ.

4. The decision may be appealed to the Supreme Court within 45 (forty-five) days, starting from the day after the notification of this decision.
