NATO spending to increase by 5%, diplomat: Aims to pull economies out of crisis

Diplomat Roland Bimo explained how 5 percent of GDP will be spent on the military, which is intended to be achieved by 2035 by NATO countries, following the decision from today's summit in The Hague.

Invited to A2 CNN, Bimo emphasized that the economic situation in the European Union is catastrophic and the decision to increase NATO's military spending to 5% aims to get the economies out of the crisis, rather than from the security threat.

"Today there is no reliable information on which to rely about the Russian threat to the alliance. All this that is said about military spending is more to get the economies out of the crisis they are in, through the war economy, than through the peace economy. Germany has not been able to get out for 3 years, England as well, France not far behind, Italy is being held back by fabricated statistics. The entire economic situation in the European Union is catastrophic ," Bimo stressed.
