"You make Albania look like Paris", Malaj debates with Hariz: 30% of the population is poor

Economic expert Arben Malaj was involved in a debate with the head of the board of directors of the Builders' Association, Erion Harizi, during the "Opinion" show on TV Klan.

The reason was a comment by Hariz that according to him, "there are no homeless people in Albania."

Malaj, on the other hand, said that 30% of the population in our country is poor and that in no country in the world has housing been solved by the contribution of construction companies.

Excerpts from the debate: 

Arben Malaj: I am worried about what is happening with the social policies of my country. The state receives more taxes from the price increase. The tax should not be to build roads, it should compensate those whose rent has increased and those who cannot buy a house. That is what I am for, for politics, I am not for company names.

Erion Harizi: Construction is the only sector today that contributes 3% of its surface area to the homeless, and there are thousands of square meters in the municipality of Tirana and millions of euros collected from the 3%.

Arben Malaj: There is no place in the world where housing has been solved by the contribution of construction companies.

Erion Harizi: I don't know if it will be resolved, but according to her, there are no homeless people in Albania.

Arben Malaj: Who said there are no homeless people in Albania? Are you in it or not? There are no homeless people in Albania?

Erion Harizi: Do you know how much construction has contributed?

Arben Malaj: How is it possible that the Municipality of Tirana gives 1,000 loans and the Minister of Economy will give another 1,000? How could it not?

Erion Harizi: Those are soft loans.

Arben Malaj: You're doing this to us like this? Albania has 30% of the population poor.

Erion Harizi: Do you know how many square meters the Municipality of Tirana has at its disposal?

Arben Malaj: It is the poorest country in the Balkans.

Erion Harizi: Oh black spot!

Arben Malaj: It's the country with the lowest wages. You're making Albania look like Paris! What do you say?

Erion Harizi: Do you know how much construction has contributed or not? Do you have figures on how much construction has contributed or not? 500 million euros in the last 5 years. Turn it into the cost of Mira and how many apartments are being built for the homeless.
