British MP Nigel Farage has harshly attacked Prime Minister Edi Rama and accused him of hypocrisy, after the latter called it "shameful" that the United Kingdom is seeking a third country to house refugees in camps.

Rama made these comments in an interview with "The Guardian" where he declared that Britain was in a "dark place" and all because of Brexit.

"Eighty percent of the things that are said, written or accepted as a normal part of discourse in Britain today are things that before Brexit would have been completely unacceptable, completely ridiculous, completely shameful ," Rama said.

Farage stated that Rama himself, who criticized Keir Starmer, has been negotiating for months with Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni about the two refugee camps set up in Gjadra and Shëngjin.

"How can he criticize us when he spent months negotiating with the Italian Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni. He had agreed to take in a large number of their migrants crossing the Mediterranean," Farage declared.

The British MP addressed Rama, reminding him of the Albanians who are in British prisons.

"I'll tell you something, Mr. Rama, did you know that one in 50 Albanians in Britain are in prison? So show some goodwill and take them all tomorrow, because this is hypocrisy," said Farage.

Rama's comments came roughly a month after Sir Keir Starmer visited Tirana to discuss the creation of "return centres" for rejected asylum seekers, as part of efforts to tackle small boat crossings in the English Channel.
