SPEECH OF THE CHAIRMAN OF THE PR, FATMIR MEDIU AT THE OSCE PARLIAMENTARY ASSEMBLY

Thank you very much!

In support of this amendment, I would first of all like to thank Senator Corning for this amendment, which makes the proposal much more complete. Because without including what Mr. Corning added, as you know, it would be completely incomplete. This amendment adds a reference to Russia's cooperation with the People's Republic of China and the Islamic Republic of Iran in its war against Ukraine, which deserves to be mentioned alongside its cooperation with North Korea.

China is Russia’s most powerful partner, as is the Islamic Republic of Iran, which is undermining not only Ukraine’s security and fight for freedom, but also Europe’s security. China has not only turned a blind eye to the atrocities of Putin’s war against Ukraine, but has supported Russia’s economy and supply chains, undermining sanctions and ensuring that Russia continues to have access to the money and materials necessary for its invasion.

Meanwhile, Iran has supplied Russia with hundreds of deadly drones that the Kremlin has used to attack civilians in Ukraine, killing and maiming innocent people and destroying critical infrastructure.

I would just like to add that the US attack on Iran's nuclear facilities has contributed not only to stability in the Middle East, but also in Europe, and has strengthened the punitive factor against Russia in relation to Ukraine. I commend the reporter for including the reference to Russia's support from Belarus and North Korea, and I urge my colleagues to support this amendment to better reflect the broader picture of foreign assistance that Putin has received for his aggression.

We live in a time when we need to understand and have a complete picture of what constitutes a threat not only to Ukraine, but also to Europe. Thank you!
