Fire situation, 28 fires reported in 24 hours, 2 still active

During the last 24 hours, 28 fires have been reported, of which 2 are still active.

These fires have been identified in the municipalities of Elbasan, Durrës, Vlira, Finiqi, Selenica, Himara, Delvina, Skrapar, Shkodra, Vau i Dejës, Malesia e Madhe, Tirana, Kavaja, Korça and Lezha.

Currently, the following outbreaks remain active:

At the waste dump, in the municipality of Elbasan. The local Fire Department Service of the municipalities of Elbasan, Cërrik, Peqin and Kamëz went to the scene with 5 fire trucks with 20 personnel, and 4 heavy municipal vehicles. Then, 2 fire trucks with 10 personnel from the Armed Forces went to assist the forces on the ground.

In the late evening hours, the situation worsened and 6 heavy vehicles, 5 dump trucks, 1 excavator from the Elbasan municipality and 7 heavy vehicles from private entities went to the scene, who worked throughout the night, but were unable to isolate the fire in the landfill.

Today, there are 3 fire trucks with 15 personnel from the Elbasan municipality, 2 fire trucks with 10 personnel and 1 tractor with chains from the Armed Forces on the ground, and 3 fire trucks from other municipalities are also on their way.

In an area of ​​bushes and grass, in the village of Grazhdan, Livadhja administrative unit, Finiq municipality, the local MZSH service of the municipality went with 3 firefighting vehicles with 10 personnel, volunteer forces of the area and municipal forces, who were engaged in extinguishing the fire, the terrain making intervention difficult.

During the night, 1 fire truck with 3 personnel remained on duty, but as a result of the worsening situation during the night, 4 more fire trucks with 12 personnel from the municipalities of Himara, Saranda, Delvina and Konispol were sent to provide support.

Today, the fire has also moved to the village of Malçan in an area with pine trees, and in support of the firefighting forces, 6 forces from the forest service and 12 volunteers have also gone to the field.

32 firefighting vehicles and 255 operational forces were deployed in all firefighting operations. The Armed Forces also participated in yesterday's operations with 2 helicopters and 40 personnel with 5 firefighting vehicles and a chain tractor.

Based on the forecasts of the Institute of Geosciences, a "HIGH" risk level is expected today in the regions of Shkodër, Kukës, Lezhë, Durrës, Tirana, Berat and Fier, while a "MODERATE" risk level is expected in the other regions. Maximum temperatures are expected to reach up to 40 degrees Celsius.

The entire civil protection system is monitoring the situation and ready to provide immediate support if necessary.
