Gun attack in a shopping center in Denmark, 3 victims and several injured

A gunman has killed three people and injured others, three of them critically, in one of Denmark's largest shopping centers.

The 22-year-old, described as "an ethnic Dane", was arrested for the attack at the Field shopping center south of Copenhagen.

Police Chief Soeren Thomassen said there was no indication the attack was an act of terrorism.

Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen said Denmark had suffered a brutal attack.

She said she wanted to encourage Danes to stick together and support each other in this difficult time.

"Our beautiful and usually so safe capital was changed in a second," she said.

The suspect had a rifle and ammunition when he was arrested, police said.

Field's has more than 140 stores and restaurants. The high-rise shopping center is on the outskirts of Copenhagen, right across from a metro line that connects to the city centre.
