The biggest natural disaster of the century for Spain, 205 victims from the floods
The Integrated Coordination Center for the Management of Natural Disasters yesterday increased the number of victims in the Community of Valencia to 202, following the severe consequences of the storm DANA, described as one of the greatest natural disasters of the century in Spain.
Together with three other victims from Castilla-La Mancha and Andalusia, the death toll reached at least 205 people.
Meanwhile, search operations for the missing and the repair of damage to housing, roads and infrastructure continue intensively.
The Ministry of Interior announced that it has sent over 4,473 police forces to the affected areas to help the population and supervise order.
For its part, the Civil Guard has engaged 2,667 agents who have so far performed over 3,600 rescue and aid operations, as well as assisted in the prevention of criminal acts and in the identification of victims.
As of Wednesday, coroners have completed 162 autopsies of the victims, of which 39 have been fully identified through fingerprints.
The updated data from the Integrated Data Center in the Community of Valencia reflect the extraordinary scale of this tragedy and the efforts to deal with the emergency.
