NATO does not plan to send ground troops to Ukraine, an alliance official said on Tuesday, after French President Emmanuel Macron said nothing could be ruled out.
"NATO and allies are providing unprecedented military support to Ukraine," the NATO official said.
"But there are no plans for NATO combat troops in Ukraine," he added.
The French president said on Tuesday that "no consensus" exists on sending Western ground troops to Ukraine, but added that "nothing should be ruled out to achieve our objective".
"Russia cannot win the war," Macron said.
"According to international law, Ukraine has the right to self-defense and we have the right to support it," the NATO official said.
"This is what NATO allies are doing and will continue to do," he added.
The French leader had received in Paris, in a summit, the leaders of the continent.
There, European leaders have agreed to create a coalition to supply Ukraine with medium- and long-range missiles and bombs, to support Kiev's efforts to fight the invasion launched by Russia./ REL
