Putin signs the decision: 10-15 years in prison for deserters who withdraw from

Vladimir Putin has signed a new law that contains a series of changes against all those people who decide to desert or leave the army.

15 years in prison are provided for those who decide to withdraw from military mobilization, while those who voluntarily surrender to the enemy can end up in prison for 10 years.

For deserters, one who refuses to fight or obey the orders of superiors is expected to double the punishment.

This series of amendments came after a call to arms by the Kremlin that sparked many protests in the country, leading many Russian citizens to flee. Among these new laws is one that allows foreigners enlisted in the Russian military to apply for and receive citizenship in a short time, even if they do not have a residence permit.

This change applies to all foreign nationals who have signed a contract of at least one year with the Russian Armed Forces.
