The plane crashed in Vinhedo, as dramatic videos shared on social media show the plane falling from the sky, before a huge cloud of black smoke erupted into the air. It is reported that the small twin-engine plane crashed in a residential area while departing from the city of Cascavel in the southern Brazilian state of Paraná, heading to the international airport in São Paulo.
Voepass airline confirmed its plane was involved in the crash and says "there is still no confirmation of how the accident happened"
Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva held a moment of silence at an event where he was appearing, posting on social media, outside that the situation is "very sad. All my solidarity to the families and friends of the victims."
