Balla defends the mayors of Mallakastra and Kruja: Whoever is called to SPAK is

In a communication to the media, Taulant Balla spoke about the candidacy of deputies for the May 14 elections, who were summoned to SPAK in connection with accusations of criminal offenses.

The chairman of the Parliamentary Group of the Socialist Party said that Qerim Ismailaj will run again in Mallakastër, who has not declared the three-year prison sentence in Greece. Balla said that there is no prohibition regarding the case of Mallakastra. He further added that the fact that someone is called to SPAK does not stop you from running.

"If an Albanian citizen during his time in emigration has been violated or had a problem that there is no punishment for a criminal offense, these are issues that every Albanian citizen in emigration has suffered," said Balla.

Why do you put people with a criminal record, there are no other people in SP?

"Today, many people, even the highest political leaders, have been summoned to SPAK. Mr. Bushi has been summoned to SPAK as a person who has knowledge of an issue. Now according to you, if you are called to SPAK, you will no longer run? I welcome the work of Mr. Dumani. But the fact that you are called to SPAK does not stop you from running."

"We have a law that defines the cases of non-candidacy and that law is non-negotiable for anyone. My call to anyone who has served the state security and is involved in its activities not to run for mayor or Advice because the law will work."

"As for the case of Mallakastra there is no prohibition and he will be our candidate."
