OSCE: Patronage in elections is addressed in the report, we have also heard it

The OSCE Parliamentary Assembly's Special Coordinator for the elections in Albania, Farah Karimi, spoke about patronage, while reporting on the OSCE's findings for May 11.

Karimi said that the pressure from patronageists on the ground had also been reported by OSCE/ODIHR long-term observers. She stated that patronage was also reflected in the report prepared by the observation delegation, as a negative aspect.

"If you read the report you will see that yes, we have mentioned and written about this pressure, especially the pressure on people in public administration. It is something that we have addressed in our report, it is something that we mention as a negative side. This is something that we have also heard from our long-term observers. Secondly, I have to say that I actually do not feel safe to say that we should talk about the police. The only thing I can say is that during the meetings we have had with the General Prosecutor's Office and SPAK, they have mentioned several cases that have been referred to them. This is the only thing I can say," Karimi declared.
