Hospital waste in Koplik still not disposed of, excavator that covered it disappears before investigation is complete

Hospital waste in Koplik still not disposed of, excavator that covered it

About a month after the "Fiks Fare" show's denunciation of illegally dumped hospital waste in the village of Mihaj in Koplik, the situation remains alarming.

The remains are still in the same location, undisposed of, while the excavator that allegedly covered them has disappeared from the scene without the owner being identified and the investigation being completed.

At the time of publication of the case, the police had placed security tapes around the area and were keeping an eye on the territory, while an excavator was at the scene. The Municipality of Malesia e Madhe distanced itself from the vehicle, stating that it was not its property and to date there has been no official confirmation as to who the construction vehicle that covered the hazardous waste belonged to. During a return to the area, the journalists noted the presence of a municipal police car on the main road and an employee of the vehicle. Access to the waste collection was free, without any restrictions. The area was still surrounded by tapes, but the excavator was no longer in place.

The municipal police officer said that the site was being guarded by order, but there was no information about the excavator's disappearance.

"They came and took it, I don't know who. The state police had it before. We don't know what happened to it," he said.

When asked about the strong odor and the danger posed by hospital waste, the employee said that it is impossible to stay there for long and that he often stays in the car due to the lack of conditions.

He also emphasized that urban waste is no longer dumped at that location, except for the occasional municipal truck.

In this case, Fiksi journalists requested a response from the Shkodra Prosecutor's Office with a request for information. Among other things, they asked whether there is a decision to preserve the scene of the incident and whether the person or institution that removed the excavator has been identified. The Shkodra Prosecutor's Office reacted, announcing that the case is still under investigation and that they cannot provide further information until the investigation process is completed.

The case remains unsolved, while hospital waste, hazardous to health and the environment, still lies unmanaged in the middle of the village. Top Channel
