The case of alleged abuse of funds at the Albanian Post branch in Durres has taken another turn. A new criminal report has been filed with the police, opening a new line of investigation for the people involved in the case.

The complaint was filed by Feta Mataj, the husband of the former director of the Durrës Post Office Branch, Elisabeta Mataj, who is under the security measure of "prison arrest". He claims that responsibility for the financial abuse should not be limited to his wife and demands that the former head of Finance, Valbona Duni, be investigated as well.

According to the complaint, there are suspicions of an unjustified increase in the wealth of Dunija and her family. Mataj is seeking verification of the source of income and the family's economic activity, raising suspicions of possible money laundering.

The complaint alleges that the Duni family owns luxury vehicles, apartments in Durrës and Tirana, as well as businesses established in recent years. According to the complainant, these assets should be verified by the justice system to determine whether they have a legitimate source.

Another element mentioned in the complaint relates to the period after 2020, when the Albanian Post was administering funds related to the reconstruction process after the earthquake. Mataj is seeking an investigation into whether there was any violation or collusion in the management of public funds.

Meanwhile, according to the Durrës police, the report is expected to be forwarded to the Prosecutor's Office, which will evaluate the allegations and decide whether to initiate verifications or criminal proceedings.

In the Durrës Post file, Elisabeta Mataj, Valbona Duni and another person, P. Dana, are being investigated after a report was made by the Albanian Post for the criminal offense of theft by abuse of office, in collaboration.
