Former Mayor of Divjaka Fredi Kokoneshi Appears in the Criminal Court

The former mayor of Divjaka, Fredi Kokoneshi, appeared this Monday at the Special Court against Corruption and Organized Crime (SCOC), where preliminary hearings have begun for the criminal case against him and three other defendants.

Kokoneshi is accused by SPAK of the criminal offense of "abuse of office", while Dorjan Spaho, Andi Bullari and Ledio Xharo have also been named as defendants in the same court process.

According to the investigative file, the former mayor and other officials of the Divjakë Municipality are suspected of having violated the law during the leasing procedures of several public properties.

It concerns about 67 hectares of land, leased for the construction of photovoltaic plants with a 10-year term of use. According to SPAK, the areas included in the contracts were registered with the State Cadastre Agency as agricultural land, which is also one of the main elements of the investigation.

At the preliminary hearing, the court is expected to decide whether the case will proceed to trial or whether other procedural decisions will be made on the file.
