Spain midfielder Rodri has been named the best player of the 2026 World Cup, capping off another successful tournament after La Roja's triumph over Argentina in the final.
The 30-year-old was one of the key figures for the Spanish team throughout the World Cup, leading the midfield and contributing to an impressive performance, where Spain conceded only one goal in eight matches.
After returning from a serious knee injury that kept him out of the field for a while, Rodri gradually found optimal form and started all of Spain's matches during the tournament in the United States.
It is another prestigious accolade for the Manchester City midfielder, who was previously named the best player at Euro 2024 before also winning the Ballon d'Or. With the award won at the 2026 World Cup, he adds another individual trophy to a career filled with success.
Spain's dominance was also reflected in other individual awards. Defender Pau Cubarsi was named the tournament's best young player, while goalkeeper Unai Simon was named best goalkeeper, after crucial performances that helped Spain lift the World Cup trophy.
