The deputy of the Democratic Party, Albana Vokshi, in her speech at the Assembly of the Central Democratic International (IDC-CDI), has strongly condemned the electoral process of May 11 in Albania, describing it as a farce orchestrated by a "party-state linked to drug cartels".

In a powerful statement to international delegates, Vokshi emphasized that the elections were neither free, nor fair nor democratic. She asked for support for the DP resolution declaring the elections invalid and calls on the assembly to send a verification mission to Albania.

"We did not manage to win, because in front of us we did not have a political party, but a Party-State linked to drug cartels and the most dangerous criminal groups in Europe and America," Vokshi declared.

According to her, in many electoral areas, including the municipality of Vora where she was a candidate, polling stations were controlled by criminals and drug traffickers, who openly collaborated with senior state officials.

"In Vora, the polling stations were occupied by convicts of murder and drug trafficking. Armed men cooperated with ministers and state officials. Neither the police, nor SPAK, nor the CEC intervened," Vokshi denounced.

She added that Albanians were blackmailed and bought with pension bonuses and money obtained from cannabis cultivation. Vokshi accused the government of using 500 million euros from public funds to manipulate the elections, while more than 20 new deputies in the Assembly, according to her, are the product of support from organized crime.
