The poisoning of children in Gramsh, proof of the destruction of state control!

By Petrit Vasili

The poisoning of children in Gramsh is a dramatic case of violation of citizens' lives, but also proof that control systems and inspectorates have come to an end.

This case required a very intensive investigation on many levels, such as sanitary, epidemiological, and food safety in general.

Was there a good tradition in the past?

Of course you do!

The State Sanitary Inspectorate, and especially the part that covered Food Hygiene, was light years faster, decisive, and capable of quickly, professionally, and authoritatively investigating any event of this type.

Likewise, the Epidemiological Inspectorate, which with great competence and speed clarified the circumstances and risks for such situations, setting standards and minimizing their recurrence.

Both of these structures were equipped with highly experienced, professionally skilled specialists, well-trained support staff, and appropriate laboratories.

The AKU is currently a completely incompetent and super-politicized structure, which only thinks about daily propaganda in favor of the ruling party, while the situation has completely gotten out of hand.

Continuously led by all sorts of characters without any professional training in food security, but simply as loyal and militant party members, the AKU today represents the institution of food insecurity.

The latest situation with the poisoning of children in Gramsh, which is one of the endless events that occur continuously, showed once again that the only preoccupation of the AKU is to keep quiet and not to investigate, while other events have preceded it with chicken meat, aflatoxins in milk, ice cream with ethylene oxide, etc.

The current food safety control systems, instead of working in sync and strengthening each other's role, instead create dominance, such as that of the NFA, over the others, leading to lack of investigation and prioritizing the covering up of the truth.

Food safety control has become a patronage racket and not a system where state and professional responsibilities should be maximized.

It is a great tragedy that even the very good tradition that was inherited was destroyed by the malignity and corruption of the Renaissance government.
