Journalist Klodiana Lala has revealed new details regarding the investigations into electoral crimes in the region of Elbasan, following the accusations of the Democratic Party that Suel Çela's criminal gang influenced the result of the May 11 elections. Invited to the show "The Unexposed" on MCN TV, Lala said that in Elbasan, five different cases are being investigated by SPAK, related to electoral corruption.

According to her, concrete investigations have been carried out into people who are suspected of favoring the candidacy of Sara Mila, who won a sensational result in the elections, despite the lack of a pronounced political activity earlier.

"Suel Çela is the head of a criminal organization hit by SPAK and an arrest warrant has been issued against him. Some of the members of his group have been arrested, others are on the run. SPAK has exercised checks on various persons, including institutional officials, to verify whether there was influence or favorability of Sara Mila's campaign," declared Lala.

She emphasized that phones were seized and checks were carried out as part of the investigations for drug trafficking and election crime. One of the cases mentioned was that of Luan Tabaku, for whom special checks were carried out.

Lala also raised questions about how a candidate without visible political contribution can reach over 20 thousand votes in a large district like Elbasan, while well-known figures such as Fatmir Xhafaj or Erion Braçe have not reached such figures.

She underlined that unlike the case of Jorida Tabaku, who has had concrete commitments in politics, in the case of Mila clarifications should be given about the contribution and support that led her to such a result.

According to the journalist, in addition to the issue of Elbasan, about 40 cases of electoral corruption are being investigated throughout the country, including Shkodra, Fier and Puka, where a phone has been seized that could help uncover manipulation schemes.

One of the most delicate investigations, according to Lala, is the one that has been referred from prison and is being held discreetly. "It is a broad-based investigation, which in my opinion can produce very strong results," she said, adding that electoral crimes should be investigated and punished without compromise.
