"We will request additional investigations"/ Meta's lawyer: The

Ilir Meta's lawyer, Kujtim Cakrani, has reacted after the conclusion of the investigations against the leader of the Freedom Party, describing the accusations as unfounded and politically motivated. In a statement to the media, Cakrani said that they will request additional investigations and the questioning of witnesses who, according to him, have important information on the case.

According to the lawyer, Meta faces three charges: passive corruption of elected officials, laundering of proceeds of crime, and concealment of income, but he insists that none of them are true.

“The accusations are unfounded and have been clarified during the investigation phase. Mr. Meta was questioned and argued that the investigations were concluded at a politically sensitive moment, immediately after the elections, in order to divert attention from the problems that accompanied the electoral process,” Cakrani declared.
He added that the defense will use all legal means to dispute the accusations and to seek additional clarifications from other persons who were part of the Socialist Movement for Integration.

"Many individuals who were LSI functionaries and who should have been defendants are today free and even exercise public functions. Therefore, we will demand further investigations and the calling of witnesses who are aware of the circumstances of the fact," Meta's lawyer added.
