The DP candidate for deputy in Durrës, Aulon Kalaja, filed a criminal complaint with SPAK for the forgiveness of fines just two days before the elections.

Kalaja described this decision as a violation of the law and abuse of power.

"I have addressed SPAK today with a criminal complaint regarding the forgiveness of fines by the Council of Ministers. I believe that the Council of Ministers abused its power. Prime Minister Edi Rama was not present at that meeting, as he does in these cases. The law stipulates that such decisions cannot be made until 4 months before the elections.

"I am in favor of forgiving fines, but you can't do it two days before the elections. SPAK should investigate this case, to bring to justice those who committed electoral crimes. The soup was cooked in December 2024, but the decision was made on May 9 and I believe that this directly affected the elections. The large fines in these times are to compensate for the fines that have been forgiven ," said Kalaja.
