Italy/ 39-year-old Albanian man crashes to death while waiting to go to work

A tragic event occurred this morning in Italy, where an Albanian citizen lost his life after being hit by a vehicle while waiting to go to work.

The victim has been identified as Edmond Gjoci, 39, of Albanian origin and resident of Tuoro sul Trasimeno. The accident occurred on regional road 71, in the Riccio area, near the border with the Umbria region.

According to preliminary reports, Gjoci was standing on the side of the road waiting for someone to accompany him to his workplace when he was fatally struck by a vehicle driven by a 19-year-old man who had just received his driver's license. It is suspected that the young man lost control of the vehicle and swerved off the road, fatally hitting the Albanian.

The deceased left behind his wife and a young daughter, while Italian authorities have launched investigations to fully uncover the incident, under the leadership of the Cortona carabinieri.
