GSBGJ condemns threats against Osmani: Immediate measures should be taken to

The Group for Security and Gender Equality (GSBGJ) has reacted strongly after the death threats against the President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, describing them as a serious attack not only on a state figure, but also on democracy and the rule of law itself.

In a public statement, the GSBGJ states that acts of intimidation and violence against women in politics are unacceptable and pose a direct threat to equality, stability and the functioning of democratic institutions.

"We express full solidarity with President Osmani and reaffirm our unwavering support for the safety, protection and dignity of all public officials, regardless of gender, who serve with integrity and dedication. There is no place for violence or intimidation in democratic societies," the GSBGJ response states.

The group has called on state institutions, political parties, civil society and the media to take immediate and coordinated action to protect women in politics and ensure that they are able to lead without fear or pressure.

The reaction comes at a time when the rise in hate speech and threats in public spaces against women in leadership positions has become an ongoing concern for organizations working for gender equality and human rights.
