The garbage of Ishmi invades Cape Rodon, the (Un)Protected Area is not maintained, the road destroyed

The garbage of Ishmi invades Cape Rodon, the (Un)Protected Area is not

But, in addition to the huge coast in the Ishmi Delta, garbage has also "conquered" Cape Rodon. Fiksi's camera filmed the coastline within the area that is managed by the Franciscan Church, where plastic bottles are easily found in a large sea line.

In fact, the garbage has been cleaned dozens of times by the employees of the Franciscan Church, while no central and local institution has gone to clean it. Fiksi talked to some employees, who said that the waste comes everywhere and Ishmi brings it. "We have cleaned them, but no state institution has come. I haven't seen anyone clean them," says the worker.

Within Cape Rodon are two cultural monuments, the Church and the Castle of Skanderbeg, which must be maintained by the Ministry of Culture. But, neither the ministry nor the municipality of Durrës or the Ishem Administrative Unit has taken any measures.

In addition to garbage, the road that leads to the protected areas, where the Castle or the top of Cape Rodon is, is extremely depreciated. Although millions of euros have been spent to make it, redo and maintain, the situation is still broken.

Fiksi has followed this problem in 2024 as well, as millions of euros were allocated, but the situation was extremely problematic. At that time, the Municipality of Durrës intervened, repaired only a few potholes, but they have been reopened even bigger and no one has given up.

A worker claims that the local government has only maintained him sporadically, but the situation is getting worse and worse. He says that the works of the complexes that are being done have completely destroyed him.

"Tourists come here from all over the world, Brazil and Distant Argentina. Everyone complains about the road. They come from all continents and it is a shame where they pass. One from France broke the sadokart, he can see the signs of oil. He barely took the car," says the worker.

Fiks Fare's camera filmed that on the side of the road, from the village of Shetaj to Cape Rodon, tons of earth were thrown. Heavy vehicles work incessantly, as in addition to ruining the road, they throw the soil everywhere. But, surprisingly, no one looks at them! Not even the police, the local government unit or even those of the central government.

Fiksi talks to environmental expert Lavdosh Feruni, who says that the situation is alarming in the river deltas. According to him, a broad project is needed, awareness to the source so that we do not have this kind of massacre.

Feruni says that government and municipal initiatives on garbage are a problem everywhere, and rivers could not be an exception here. In addition to plastic and hospital waste, Feruni says that heavy waste is also thrown into the rivers from factories and they are more dangerous, as the river water is irrigated and the waste is returned to our table. According to him, with this type of pollution it is very difficult to return to the original state./TCH
