Migrant camps in Lezha, the Court of Cassation in Italy questions the Albanian

Italy’s Supreme Court of Cassation has referred two cases concerning government migrant centers in Albania to the EU Court of Justice for clarification on whether their use is in line with European law, the daily Il Manifesto reported on Friday.
Rome initially intended to process migrants in one of the centers set up outside Italian territory under an innovative and controversial agreement with Tirana.
But it has started using its facility in Gjader as a CPR center for repatriation to overcome legal obstacles regarding migrant cases being processed there.
According to the Il Manifesto report, the supreme court has doubts whether it can be used as a CPR.
The cases referred to the Court of Justice concern two appeals by the interior ministry against a Rome court's refusal to uphold the detention of two people at the Gjader centre - a migrant and an asylum seeker who made a request for international protection while detained at the centre, Il Manifesto said.
The Rome court rejected the detentions, overturning a previous ruling in which it had equated the Gjader facility with CPRs in Italy.
