KAS rejects the appeals of 4 candidates who requested a recount of preferential

The KAS has rejected the appeals of 4 candidates who requested a recount of preferential votes in Tirana and Durrës.

We are talking about the Democratic Party candidates, Ilir Alimehmeti, Lisandër Hoxha, Lindita Metaliaj and Aulon Kalaja.

The Complaints and Sanctions Commission (KAS) decided that they do not have standing as complainants for the requests for a recount of their votes on the open list.

The decision was made 4 to 1 in the KAS, with only representative Ilir Rusmali voting in favor of individual candidates having the right to request a recount of their votes.

Meanwhile, representatives Bele and Lako from the SP and Braho and Çefa from the DP were against it, arguing that only the political entity and not the candidate can file a complaint.

The decision comes after official requests submitted by the 4 candidates for a recount of preferential votes.
