A vehicle was engulfed in flames this afternoon on the Tirana-Durrës highway, causing temporary panic among drivers passing on that road segment.

According to preliminary information, it is a Mercedes C-Class type vehicle, which was completely burned. Footage from the scene shows the size of the fire and the extensive damage caused to the vehicle.

It is suspected that the cause of the fire was a technical defect in the engine or in the car's electrical system. Fortunately, no injured people are reported.

Immediately after the alert, the fire brigade arrived at the scene and made it possible to neutralize and extinguish the flames, avoiding the spread of the fire and damage to other surrounding vehicles.
