May 11/ "Bulgarian train" in Peqin, Celibashi responds to the DP

The Central Election Commission has responded to the Democratic Party after suspicions about the application of the scheme known as the 'Bulgarian train' in the village of Pekisht in the Peqin municipality.

In his response to the legal representative of the Democratic Party at the CEC, Franc Nurin, the commissioner stated that no ballots are missing from Peqin's materials.

"In response to your letter, administered with our no. 4865 protocol, dated 23.5.2025, with the subject "Request for information and independent expertise on electoral materials seized in Peqin, Elbasan County, dated 22.05.2025", we inform you of the following:

"During the process of receiving the material base sent by CEAZ No. 45, Peqin, no case was identified where unused ballots were administered outside the electoral materials boxes of this CEAZ," the response given by Chief Commissioner Celibashi states.

We recall that the Democratic Party accused that in the village of Pekisht, Elbasan, in a bar-cafe owned by the village headman Dervish Beqiri, election materials and significant amounts of money were found, which were used to buy votes.

According to DP leader Sali Berisha, the ballots and money found by the elected MP for Elbasan, Blendi Himçi, were used to apply for the "Bulgarian train" in the village of Pekisht.
