The Judicial Appointments Council reviewed today the progress of the procedure for verifying the legal conditions for the candidates presented for the vacant position in the Constitutional Court, announced by the Parliament of Albania on 30.09.2024.

According to KED, "during the verification phase, it was found that the number of candidates who meet the legal requirements has fallen below the minimum threshold of three candidacies."

"In compliance with the constitutional and legal provisions, as well as in implementation of decision no. 84/2024 of the Constitutional Court which emphasizes the importance of the regular renewal of this court, once every three years, the Council decided as follows: Suspension of the procedure for verifying candidacies for the vacant position in the Constitutional Court announced on 30.09.2024.

"The announcement of the Albanian Parliament, as the body that set in motion the procedure, to evaluate the re-announcement of the call for the submission of candidacies ," the KED announced.
