DP demands 60 minutes of debate in plenary session: Change the agenda

The Democratic Party parliamentary group has officially addressed the Speaker of the Assembly, Elisa Spiropali, with a request to include in today's plenary session a 60-minute period of debate outside the agenda.

In the letter sent to the Assembly, the DP emphasizes that the order to convene the plenary session – issued on May 22 – conflicts with Article 45 of the Assembly's Rules of Procedure, which provides that at the end of the agenda, each MP has the right to raise issues they consider of public importance, for a total time of up to 60 minutes.

 "Madam Speaker of the Assembly,

The Parliamentary Group of the Democratic Party has been informed of your order no. 16, dated 22.05.2025 “On the meeting of the Assembly in plenary session, dated 29.05.2025, at 12:00”, which, among other things, conflicts with Article 45 of the Rules of Procedure of the Assembly, which states that: “At the end of the agenda, each deputy may discuss various issues that he considers should be made public in the plenary session…. The total time for discussing these issues cannot exceed 60 minutes.”.

For this reason, in accordance with Article 31 of the Rules of Procedure of the Assembly, we request that the Agenda be amended and include as its 3rd point:

– Off-the-agenda discussion for 60 min.

Regarding the above, we request compliance with Article 45 of the Rules of Procedure of the Assembly.

"PARLIAMENTARY GROUP OF THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY", states the letter sent to the Speaker of the Assembly Elisa Spiropali.
